DON'T HOPE, FRIEND .... DECIDE!

DON'T HOPE, FRIEND .... DECIDE!
by Michael Hargrove
One day, the writer picked his friend on the airport in Oregon. While he was waiting, he saw a man walking toward him. This man brought 2 small bags and he was smiling to his family who was sitting near the writer. His family consisted of his wife and his three children. when he reached his family, he said that he missed his young boy and he hugged him warmly while his boy also said that he missed his father much. Then the man did the exactly same thing to the second boy. Even, he greeted his little girl and he smiled. To his wife, he hugged her tightly as if they had never met in very long time.
Suddenly, the writer asked to the man about how long he has been married. An surprising answer from him was really made the writer shocked. The man had been with his wife for twelve years, what a very long time marriage. The more shocking fact was when the writer knew that the man was only gone for two whole weeks.
The writer wonder how they could still be like that, a warm and happy family. He said to the man that he really wondered whether he could have that kind of warm marriage when he would have married for a long time. The man hugged the writer and said that the writer should not just hope but he should decide.
Then, when the writer saw the very special man with his family went away, his friend came and he asked the writer what was he looking at. Without any doubt, the writer said that he was looking at his FUTURE.
To say the truth, I do like the end of this story. When I read it, I was so amazed by the writer's way to tell his experience because I can imagine it clearly as if I looked it directly. The story itself is really great and it is a kind of inspiring story I think. Also, it shows to me that if I want good things happen in my future, I cannot only hope but I have to decide that I have to do to make them come true.

If I see the situation that the writer saw in the airport, I will also have the same feeling as what the writer felt. Having a warm marriage, sweet wife and children, is the sweet dream of everyone in the future.

But, i have a question for you :
Why did the man say, don't hope, friend.... decide!
What did he imply to the writer?
Can't we have a hope?

this story is about the way of the man made his life so he could have a warm and happy family although he had been with his wife for very long time...

for Ika,,
it's fine if we have a hope but it's wrong if we just only hope.

this story shows that the man suggested the writer not only hope but he had to decide whether he should made all his hopes come true...
