Title : The Diamond Necklace
Author : Guy de Maupassant
Pages : 12 Pages
This story was took place in France. The characters in this story were
Monsieur and Madame Liosel, and Madame Forestier. Monsieur Loisel was
a kind husband and loyal to his wife while his wife, Madame Liosel was
an uncontended wife who kept thinking that she was supposed in the
higher class of society. Madame Forestier was a nice friend of Madame
Loisel, she even lent Madame Loisel one of her jewelry although in the
end of the story the diamond necklace which she lent to Madame Liosel
was a fake.
The story was started when Monsieur Loisel gave an invitation for a
ball from Ministry of Principal to Madame Loisel. Instead of being
happy like what her husband expected, she cried because she thought
that she did not have any appropriate dress to attend the ball. Then
his husband gave him 400 Franc to buy a new dress, but still, she
wanted jewel to wear in the ball but his husband no longer had any
money to afford it. Then he, angrily, said to his wife to borrow some
jewel to Madame Forestier. Madame Liosel, after having some look to
Madame Forestier’s jewelries, she decided to borrow a diamond necklace
which looked so beautiful from her.
Unfortunately, she lost her borrowed diamond necklace in a cab which
she rode to go home from the ball. She realized it when she already
reached her house, so her husband, in such a hurry, tried to track the
cab but he failed. Finally they borrowed some money to buy another
necklace and returned it to Madame Forestier. But, in the end, Madame
Loisel found out that the necklace which she borrowed from Madame
Forestier was a fake.
This story is interesting and also has lots of moral value. Also, this
short story gives us a lesson that we should not borrow something
which we cannot afford.

actually,,i have an unsolved question..where was the necklace lost?
Hahaha..the anonymous' comment is so debatable..according to me the necklace was lost in the cab at night..
I like this story because it has an unpredictable ending..

Hmm, I think the story is interesting enough. However,I feel pity to Madame Liosel for her hard effort to replace a thing that actually is not valuable at all and it already made her life in a sorrow.
I really like the personality of Madame Liosel's husband who always be patient accompanied her in sad or happy situation. He is a nice man I think.^_^
well,, Let's get some deduction here.. We surely can only guess for the writer only explain that Madame Loisel realize that her necklace was lost after she went home. Also, Madame Loisel sure that she still had her borrowed necklace when she was in the ball.
The only option left about where the necklace was lost is only at the outside of the castle up to Madame Loisel's house whether it was when she was on the outside of the castle when she waited for the cab or when she was in the cab.
I think the most possible place where she could lost the necklace without she realized was inside the cab.
hmm, i guess the moral lesson is being modest and humble is the key to happiness and never force ourselves to live a certain lifestyle that gives us instant happiness but everlasting misery...

You can wear a button-down shirt and tie underneath your jacket. In addition, if belt loops are present as well as dress socks for men and appropriately matching formal shoes, you should be sure to always tuck in your shirt and wear a formal belt.
